With a hint of existentialism and black comedy, Netflix’s Russian Doll deals with the eternal questions pertaining to morality and values. Created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, the show sees Lyonne as the lead character Nadia Vulvokov.

One of the best and craziest Netflix Original series ever made,  the show focused on the frenzied and reckless Nadia who revels in self-deprecation. Right after her 36th birthday, she is caught in a cynical time loop where she returns every time she dies with her decisions affecting every outcome.

As she struggles in this video-game-like maze to find an escape, she meets a man named Alan Zaveri. Together, they navigate this mind-boggling, sticky situation and try to find a way out of the endless continuum.

With eight riveting episodes that detail Nadia’s unwinnable predicament, the show has amassed a huge fan following. Ahead of the release of the second season, here is everything we know about Russian Doll season two:

Besides Natasha Lyonne and Charlie Barnett, the new season will feature a lot of new faces. Barnett, who played Alan Zaveri in the first season, spoke about how the second season will be “very different” from the first, piquing the interest of fans.

The new cast members will include Annie Murphy from Schitt’s Creek and Kevin Can F**k Himself. She talked about how she had a “wonderful time” on the show.

What will Russian Doll season two be about?

Russian Doll has had a pretty intriguing storyline in the first season. The second season is unpredictable since the first season story came to a proper end. However, Lyonne has confirmed that the upcoming season will certainly be littered with “more bizarre scenarios”. According to the actress, Nadia’s addiction problems could lead to a second-season buildup, portraying what it feels to be alive once again. For someone, who has cheated death innumerable times, it should be a cakewalk.

Lyonne has also hinted at yet another complex storyline, talking about how the ambiguous ending of the first season could indicate various versions of the characters strutting about Manhattan. “It raises the question of how many versions are there altogether? That’s certainly something that was considered,” said Lyonne. “It presents a question of do they in fact just enter a whole new sort of scenario at that moment, that they kind of completed that round?”
