10 most popular films on Netflix this week: July 2022

It’s been a while since either Stranger Things or The Umbrella Academy weren’t ruling the airwaves emitted by Netflix, and things haven’t changed. However, with series now requiring binging sessions that last longer than most relationships, there is also a good reason to return to the brilliance of Netflix’s assortment of films. Below, we’ve got the ten most popular films on Netflix right now.

Some of the most devoted watchers of movies have already fallen by the wayside when trying to pick out the best film to watch on a certain evening. Usually, we leave it up to the professionals to help us out, but sometimes, a handy list of the most popular flicks to watch can really aid one’s decision-making.

*Sea Beast, the brand new animation, has grabbed the top spot for this week’s charts. Already being showered with praise by critics, *The Sea Beast,* by the director of Bolt, Big Hero 6 and Moana, tells the story of a young girl who hides away on the ship of a legendary monster hunter, sparking an epic adventure. Helmed by Chris Williams, the creative behind such aforementioned Disney movies, the script is co-written by himself and the debut feature film screenwriter Nell Benjamin.

Featuring an impressive voice cast that includes such names as Dan Stevens, Kathy Burke, Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, and Jared Harris, Netflix’s latest movie could blow the likes of the new Minions film out of the water.

One film that refuses to go away is Patrick Hughes-directed smash hit. The $75 million action film The Man From Toronto, starring Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart, among others, has topped the charts for several weeks but slips down the rankings. It has been viewed for nearly 25 million hours, confirming its spot once more as a bona fide success for the streaming platform.

As well as tips of the hat to titles from Nicolas Cage (Grand Isle) and Adam Sandler (*Hustle), this week’s charts have two classics bringing up the rear. Not only is the teen comedy that sparked a whole run of other teen comedies, *Mean Girls* in this week’s top ten, but also The Dark Knight Rises, the Christopher Nolan Batman flick that changed the superhero game.
