10 most popular films on Netflix this week: August 2022

It’s been a quieter week on Netflix as August draws to a close, and people are enjoying some Me Time. All puns aside, fewer people have been tuning into Netflix movies this week in a slight summer downturn, however, the comedy antics of Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg have still been putting up healthy figures.

Me Time sees the duo combine in the wacky comedy that “follows a Dad who finds time for himself for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. He reconnects with a friend for a wild weekend.”

Although the reviews haven’t been great, Me Time has racked up just shy of 60,000,000 viewing hours which is enough to almost make it double the total that second-placed Look Both Ways has amassed. It retains its position in the list, however, proving that Lili Reinhart’s college adventures clearly have some staying power.

Aside from the new summer holiday releases that Netflix have been cramming on, The Mummy has also broken into the top ten, proving that the classics still have pulling power on the platform. It’s an absolute vintage piece of fun cinema, and albeit it is on ITV2 in the UK almost every week, clearly, people can’t get enough of it.

The charts see another new entry with Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee making an appearance. The documentary comes with a rather straightforward synopsis: “Life and death of software pioneer John McAfee who developed the software: McAfee Antivirus.” However, there are certainly more twists and turns in the tale than that.
