Zack Snyder epic 'Rebel Moon - Part One' will become available to stream a day early

Netflix has announced a change in the streaming premiere date for the Zack Snyder-helmed ambitious sci-fi epic Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire.

The space opera has been moved up a day earlier than planned, coinciding with a special one-week engagement in theatres starting next week.

Netflix adjusted the release schedule for Rebel Moon, now set for December 21st, 2023 instead of the initially announced streaming date of December 22nd, 2023.

The streaming platform aims to create an event out of Rebel Moon by pairing its limited theatrical screenings and timed premiere. This move aligns with Snyder’s track record of sparking considerable discussion among both supporters and critics, making it an anticipated event.

The original trailer introduced us to Sofia Boutella’s character, Kora, a strange and mysterious woman with an interesting past living on the moon of Veldt with humble farmers.

When spaceships suddenly enter the atmosphere of the moon, Kora understands that these new visitors from the Motherland have not come in peace but are likely there to take action against the farmers.

The farmers look to have sold some crops to a group of insurgents, which has angered the Motherland. Kora then sets out to find a group of fighters who will defend Veldt and its inhabitants.

Snyder shot the two-part Rebel Moon consecutively, debuting A Child of Fire this month and scheduling the second instalment, The Scargiver, for an April 2024 premiere.

Additionally, he expressed interest in unveiling an extended director’s cut, delving deeper into Rebel Moon‘s universe and characters, while amplifying the level of violence beyond the theatrical version.

Snyder’s vision extends beyond the films, as he intends to expand Rebel Moon into a multi-genre franchise encompassing comic books, video games, and other mediums.
