Will ‘Enola Holmes’ return for a fourth movie?

After four long years of waiting, Enola Holmes 3 is finally on Netflix, in which Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill reprise their roles as Enola and Sherlock Holmes.

Directed by Philip Barantini with a screenplay written by Jack Thorne, adapting Nancy Springer’s book series, the third chapter of the detective saga opens with Enola preparing to walk the aisle with the dapper Lord Tewkesbury, when she receives word about Sherlock’s kidnapping.

Putting the wedding on hold, Enola, Tewkesbury, and Mr Watson join forces to track down Sherlock and find out the entity behind the ordeal. While the finale of Enola Holmes 3 seemingly sets up a future mystery for a possible future movie, for those curious about Enola Holmes 4, well, there’s no official word on it as of now.

But in a recent conversation with Decider, Himesh Patel, who portrays Dr Watson, addressed the hullabaloo surrounding a fourth movie, saying, “I haven’t heard anything. We are just here to enjoy number three coming out into the world. I would love to go again. I’d love to step into those shoes.”

Upon being asked whether he’d love to see Dr Watson appear in future movies, Patel added with a laugh, “A bit more time with Sherlock would be great. Henry seems like a lovely guy. I’d love to spend a bit more time with him.”

Although the central plot of Enola Holmes 2 and Enola Holmes 3 doesn’t follow Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries books, considering there are 10 books in the series, it leaves Netflix plenty of opportunity to address those storylines in future movies. And if the third instalment pans out to be a big hit, the possibility for Enola Holmes 4 isn’t unlikely.

In fact, in a separate interview with Digital Spy, Brown seemed to be all in for more Enola Holmes movies. “I’ll be there if Netflix is,” she said. And when the host suggested that a future movie from the franchise could spotlight Enola and Tewkesbury as parents, she was ecstatic. “Oh, my goodness, yeah, Enola as a mum, that would be crazy,” she said.

However, Louis Patridge didn’t seem as enthusiastic with his response about immediately leaping into a fourth movie. “I’ll do one in like 50 years or something,” he said.

Similarly, in yet another conversation with ComicBook, Brown explained, “Gosh, I mean, I’m not I’m not the decider in that, but we’ll see how this one does. But yeah, I’m there if Netflix is there and Louis is there.” Well, that seems assuring even without confirmation; only time will tell whether Enola Holmes 4 is actually in the bingo card.
