Why you should be excited about ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ season two

Two years ago, Netflix renewed Avatar: The Last Airbender for a second and third season, and as early as November 2025, the production for its third season wrapped up. But the question is: where is season two at? Well, the answer is: not too far!

The battle against the Fire Nation is far from done. So, just in time for the changing seasons, Netflix confirmed that Avatar: The Last Airbender is returning this June.

Speaking of the upcoming season, executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani told Tudum, “We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that animation didn’t.”

While that’s quite a promise to begin with, for those curious, here’s a rundown of everything to know about Avatar: The Last Airbender’s second season before it returns this summer.

What is the plot?

After preventing the invading Fire Nation from capturing the Northern Water Tribe, Avatar Aang, Katara, and Sokka reunite and head out on a mission to persuade the Earth King to assist them in their war against the ruthless Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender season two. They journey to the city of Ba Sing Se, which the Earth King calls home, confronting numerous obstacles. However, the risk pays off when Aang comes across Toph, a daring young master of earthbending.

Determined to learn from her, Aang convinces her to teach him earthbending to elevate his skills, which already include airbending and waterbending. Although Ba Sing Se is widely known as impenetrable, even the city’s might cannot hold back the Fire Nation. Prince Zuko continues his quest to capture the Avatar, which is made more challenging by his reputation as a fugitive traitor from the Fire Nation, and a nudging conscience that constantly makes him question if he’s at all right. And to make things worse, his sister joins the fray.
