Why Netflix users might not be able to watch Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight

Fans who have been waiting patiently for months to catch the coveted fight between Logan Paul and Mike Tyson will finally be able to catch a glimpse of ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘Iron Mike’ in action this weekend—though Netflix has warned users of a small hurdle that may prevent them from tuning in.

YouTube star-turned-boxer, Paul, will soon be stepping out in front of 80,000 people at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to go head-to-head with Tyson, following months of delays in part due to Tyson’s health uncertainties.

However, the fight will officially take place and be broadcast live at 10pm CST, which is 4pm GMT for UK viewers who don’t want to miss a beat.

Anyone with a Netflix subscription will be able to watch the fight, but users have been warned that those with the standard £10.99 monthly subscription will only be allowed two users watching at the same time, and any others will be unable to use the platform at that time.

However, those with the premium £17.99 subscription are permitted up to four users, two of which will be able to watch from two different households.

The fight, which is slated to be one of the biggest and most controversial of the year, was originally scheduled to go ahead in July. However, Tyson was urged to postpone after suffering an ulcer flare-up on a flight. It was rescheduled for November, which seems to finally be the destined date for it to be programmed to Netflix users all over—simultaneously signposting a monumental moment for Netflix broadcasting.

The streaming platform has tested the waters with live programmes over the past two years, showing everything from tennis matches to eating contests. However, these have all been relatively small, especially compared to the scale of the upcoming fight between Paul and Tyson.

The fight will last eight two-minute rounds. Knockouts are allowed, and the fighters won’t be wearing headguards. However, the pair will be wearing 14-ounce gloves, which are heavier than the standard 10-ounce versions.
