Where was ‘BEEF’ season two filmed?

The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s critically acclaimed anthology series, BEEF, primarily unfolds at the elite Monte Vista Point Country Club.

It follows Gen Z couple and employees, Austin and Ashley, alongside their unhappily married general manager, Josh and his wife, Lindsay, who are vying for the approval of their billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park.

BEEF season two opens at a stunning cliffside lawn as the sun is about to set over the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. Peeking right through is a Spanish-style structure with majestic white walls and a clay-tiled roof surrounded by greenery and luxe tennis courts.

Although the visuals from the season premiere leave you completely at a loss for words, the beefs and blackmail that follow ensure that the jaws are also dropped in the process. But returning to our focus point, which is the captivating landscapes, for those curious, here’s a rundown of every location BEEF hoisted its flag.

Filming locations of BEEF season two

Monte Vista Point Country Club

The production of BEEF’s second season took place at two different clubs and several other SoCal locations. As for the season’s primary location, Monte Vista Point Country Club, it was shot in the Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo, California, and the Montecito Club in Santa Barbara, California. The athletic facilities shown in the season are Spanish Hill’s tennis courts and golf course. Meanwhile, Montecito Club lends its huge lawns and clubhouse exteriors.

According to the creator, showrunner, and executive producer Lee Sung Jin, the idea of making a country club the focus of this instalment dawned when he began frequenting them himself. “With the success of season one, I had the opportunity to visit a lot of country clubs. It was interesting to see the level of comfort and luxury that is afforded to certain people,” he explained to Tudum.

Josh and Lindsay’s home

“As millennials without much money, [Josh and Lindsay] probably got priced out of Montecito,” the creator continued. They actually settled in Ojai, which he describes as a “millennial haven.” However, in real life, Josh and Lindsay’s house is in Calabasas, California. Although the region is commonly associated with palatial, gated communities, the pair’s house in the Netflix series is complete with Ojai vibes.

Austin and Ashley’s apartment

Just like the warmth of Josh and Lindsay’s home is very giving, Austin and Ashley’s apartment speaks for themselves. Since they rent the place, the only way to make it home is through décor. “Their approach to nesting is sentimental,” Yun explains. “It’s driven by memories they can make around certain objects brought from their family homes or that they thrifted together. It may not be luxurious, but it is their own.”

The indoor shots of the apartment were filmed in a studio, and the exterior shots of the establishment were filmed outside an apartment complex in Newhall.

Austin, Ashley, and Eunice’s lunch place

Throughout BEEF’s second season, Austin and Ashley have been determined to impress Chairwoman Park, which leads to the latter setting up a lunch at a place called China Bamboo House. For those wondering, the scenes were actually shot at Garden Wok in Tarzana.

Pixie Grove Retreat

When Josh and Lindsay finally feel that it’s time to turn their warm Ojai home into a luxury bed and breakfast, the couple visit a newly opened resort called Pixie Grove Retreat, run by another couple. While their visit is motivated by intentions to beat their own chests, the beauty of the landscape leaves them humbled instead.

For those wondering, the filming location is in the canyons of Agoura Hills.

Park Mansion

Chairwoman Park’s California mansion screams luxury and also conveys her status in society at the same time. According to Yun, her power and wealth are “embedded in the architecture. It’s actually in the texture of the walls and in the flow of the space.” In reality, the mansion scenes were filmed in a seaside residence in Malibu.

Troy’s Park City ski chalet

Remember the generous Monte Vista Point member, Troy, who flew Josh to Park City, Utah, hoping to cheer him up after Burberry, his daschund, disappeared? While there, Josh also enjoys a private concert of Hot Chips in Troy’s ski chalet, which is actually shot at an estate in Thousand Oaks, California.

Ojai Main Street

At one point in BEEF, after Burberry goes missing, Lindsay is found in Ojai, frantically looking for the dog when she has an unexpected encounter with Austin and Ashley, who are also searching for Josh’s dog. The run-in was shot on Ojai Avenue across the street from Libbey Park.

Troy’s mansion

In the season two finale, Josh stops by Troy’s SoCal mansion, desperately asking for help. While Josh is completely on the outs when he arrives, his truckload of anxiety and despair is still not enough to dull the shine of Troy’s mansion, which is, in real life, a home on Mudholland Highway, Malibu.

Seoul Hotel

Lastly, for those wondering what BEEF’s Seoul Hotel actually stands for, although the exact hotel isn’t specified in the show, Tudum confirms the scenes were shot at the Conrad Hotel in the Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, South Korea.
