When will Charmed season 3 stream on Netflix: Everything we know

The end of the month is here and it is going to bring in a much-awaited surprise! Charmed season 3 is finally coming to Netflix!

A supernatural fantasy drama popular in the early 2000s, The CW acquired the rights to reboot Charmed in 2018 and to date the show has successfully run for three seasons. The show revolves around three sisters, Mel, Macy and Maggie, who have been vested with magical powers that they discover after their mother’s demise.

Their destiny compels them to be the good guys and protect everyone from evil spirits and demonic forces. Together, the sisters are stronger and find their mentor in Harry Greenwood. As the show progresses, they embark on various adventures and must carry out their responsibilities with diligence, patience and perseverance.

The new reboot was met with certain scepticism from the original cast and fans but soon won over their hearts as the actors are extremely talented and adept and do a brilliant job. The diversity and of the cast as well as the feminist ideas weaved within the discussions that the characters carry out and the stronger depiction of the female leads make this reboot enjoyable and binge-worthy.

The CW had signed a “mutually-beneficial” deal with Netflix which meant that a bulk of The CW shows would be streaming on Netflix. Shows like Supergirl, Black Lightning, Dynasty, the Flash, Arrow as well as Charmed shall continue streaming on Netflix with the addition of new episodes and seasons following their parent company’s release in quick succession.

While season 4 for Charmed has already been confirmed, with the CEO of The CW talking about how the production teams shall utilise the time to “start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season”, following the release of the third season finale on The CW earlier this week, fans are eagerly waiting for the third season to stream on Netflix soon. Here is everything that we know about the impending third season:

When will Charmed season 3 stream on Netflix?

When will Netflix stream Charmed S3?

In May, both the first and second seasons of Charmed arrived on Netflix. While the third season was scheduled for release long back, the coronavirus pandemic postponed the schedule indefinitely and it was not until January 2021 that the season made the premiere.

Initially, the date for the Netflix release was scheduled to be July 16, 2021. However, the third season has just aired on The CW on July 23, 2021, which pushed the date back to July 31, 2021.

Will Charmed ever leave Netflix?

As long as The CW keeps on adding to the number of episodes of Charmed, Netflix will continue to follow suit. The show leaving the streaming giant is not of concern now but will definitely be something to think about once The CW no longer renews the show for another season.

How many episodes does Season 3 have?

The third season is shorter than both the previous seasons and comprises 18 episodes, the finale of which had aired on The CW on 23rd July 2021.

Who are the cast members now?

Charmed had a more diverse and fresh range of characters which, however, rubbed the original cast and some old fans the wrong way. There was a rift between the old and the new cast and actor Ser’Darius Blain expressed his disdain by stating how he hated witnessing the “discord between the old and the new” and sincerely wished for them to “just come together, find a happy medium and all be happy”.

While nothing has been confirmed about the older cast members returning, actress Rose McGowan who played the role of Paige had expressed her desire to return alongside Shannon Doherty. To add the cherry on top, the newer cast agreed on seeing the older cast reunite as well which makes it extremely intriguing to see whether we can actually see a blend of the old and the new.

The current cast includes the likes of Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jefferey, Ser’Darius Blain, Rupert Evans and more. However, the third season shall be bidding farewell to Mantock who announced that she is leaving the series and thanked “The CW and CBS Studios” for providing her “brilliant support in my difficult decision to leave” before conveying the entire show her best wishes for “a spectacular fourth season”.
