'Wednesday' has become the second most-streamed English language show on Netflix

Netflix’s Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role, has surpassed Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story to become the second most-watched English-language show on the streaming service.

The series follows Wednesday, now a teenager, as she reluctantly enrols in Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts, where she struggles to connect with other students. However, after Addams discovers she possesses psychic powers, she realises these skills might come in handy for solving a local murder.

Whilst Stranger Things 4 remains the most-streamed English-language show, Wednesday has joined the series to become one of three that have surpassed one billion watched hours in a month. Squid Game also achieved this feat, which remains the streamer’s most-watched show of all time.

Netflix has estimated that over 150 million households have watched Wednesday since its release on 23rd November 2022. During its first week, the show racked up 341.2 million hours viewed, and another 411.29 million hours were watched the following week. In 28 days, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story totalled 856.2 million hours, whereas Wednesday still has another week to climb higher.

It is unlikely that Wednesday will overtake Stranger Things; however, it must be considered that the latter has a significantly longer runtime. The series only runs for 6.8 hours compared to Stranger Things‘ 13 hours, making Wednesday‘s achievements rather impressive.
