Watch the trailer for 'Cobra Kai' season five

Netflix has dropped the long-awaited trailer for the fifth season of the Karate Kid spin-off Cobra Kai, giving fans a brief insight into protagonist Daniel LaRusso’s mission to bring down the titular evil dojo.

The clip is well over two minutes in duration. In it, we see LaRusso formulating a plan to stop the villainous Terry Silver from expanding the reach of Cobra Kai beyond the Valley, whilst former enemy Johnny Lawrence seeks to find himself whilst looking back on his past. Silver comes across as more sinister than ever in the new trailer, with his threats to LaRusso indicating that he will go to any length to achieve his ultimate goal.

“This is what we’re up against,” LaRusso tells Chozen Toguchi when discussing Silver at the clip’s start. “This is how everyone sees him, as some kind of philanthropist out to save the kids of the Valley.” Reflecting just how serious things are getting, LaRusso even closes his Miyagi-do Karate in order to channel all his energy into defeating Silver.

Lawrence has now left his position as the sensei of Eagle Fang Karate to work as an Uber Driver. It looks as if this is going to be the most candid fans have ever seen the character who was once the primary thorn in LaRusso’s side. It is also suggested that LaRusso’s burning desire to defeat Silver leads to marital problems, as we see him and his wife arguing.

The most exciting part of the trailer comes at the end, when Lawrence, who has turned to a peaceful life, realises that he, LaRusso, and Chozen will have to get their “hands dirty” to finish off the Cobra Kai for once and for all.
