Watch the trailer for the Netflix documentary on Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X

The scintillating trailer for Marcus A. Clarke’s upcoming Netflix documentary Blood Brothers: Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X has just landed.

The documentary will be exploring the relationship between the two iconic figures, Muhammad Ali, who reigned supreme in the boxing ring, and Malcolm X, the passionate civil rights activist who was sadly murdered. It’s impossible not to echo Reverend Al Sharpton’s line, “They defined a whole generation to be themselves and be bold”.

Malcolm X’s daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, who is developing her own series documenting her father’s life, is another interviewee on this documentary. She will be bridging the gap between the vastly different worlds of the two legends and talking about how it was “destiny” that made these two meet.

Her comment follows Ali’s statement, “Destiny can take your best friend as an instrument to cause you harm.”

The official synopsis promises the programme will delve into their incredible yet tragic tale of the friendship between the two icons. One of whom dismissed sports as a trivial endeavour in the wake of white oppression, yet, went on to befriend one of the greatest boxers in the history of time.

Besides interviews and insights from family and peers, notable figures such as Muhammad Ali’s younger brother, Rahman Ali, his daughter Maryum Ali, and Cornell West will also appear.
