Watch Netflix’s teaser for the new LGBTQ series 'Heartstopper'

The new Netflix LGBTQ series Heartstopper garnered quite the buzz recently with its brand new first-look photos a few weeks ago. Now, Netflix has dropped the teaser for the same, and fans cannot keep calm.

This coming-of-age British romance series is based on Alice Oseman’s eponymous graphic novel and webcomic that tells a story of self-discovery, love, acceptance and other teenage conflicts.

Euros Lyn, known for his work in Doctor Who and Black Mirror, will be directing the series. It revolves around Charlie and Nick’s blossoming feelings and love story. While they have opposing personalities, they strike an unlikely friendship that soon gets overpowered by intense feelings of love and affection.

The series has a diverse and inclusive cast and explores the changing dynamics of a group of friends. This cast will include Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, Kit Connor as Nick Nelson, Corinna Brown as Tara Jones, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olsson, Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent and William Gao as Tao Xu.

Fisayo Akinade, Chetna Pandya and Alan Turkington appear as the teachers in the series.

The teaser is slightly more than a minute long and shows a man telling Charlie about a boy “waiting” for him. Following this exchange, Baby Queen’s Colors of You begins to play in the background as the teaser indulges in Charlie’s growing “crush” on Nick.

After Love, Simon and Alex Strangelove, and other heartwarming LGBTQ+ Netflix original films and shows, Heartstopper will surely attract the audience’s attention this year.

The show will premiere on April 22nd, 2022.
