Watch the long-awaited new trailer for 'You' season four

Netflix has released the very first trailer for You season four, appeasing fans worldwide who were long-anticipating a glimpse into the new series.

Season four of the celebrated TV show will see Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) attempt to escape his prickly situation in Europe alongside deuteragonist Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle). Whilst these two staples of the show are returning, season four will also see the arrival of actors Lukas Gage, Ed Speleers, Tilly Keeper and Charlotte Ritchie of Ghosts and Fresh Meat fame.

The new series will continue the drama of Joe and Marienne, with the synopsis stating: “After his previous life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg has fled to Europe to escape his ‘messy’ past, adopt a new identity, and, of course, to pursue true love. But Joe soon finds himself in the strange new role of reluctant detective as he discovers he may not be the only killer in London. Now, his future depends on identifying and stopping whoever’s targeting his new friend group of uber-wealthy socialites”.

The teaser demonstrates that the new series will see Joe up to his same old tricks, telling the viewer that he has “fallen in with the most insane, damaged people on Earth,” whilst the visuals promise another dark, dreamlike story.

Speaking on the Podcrushed podcast, Penn Badgley fantasised about meeting his You character, stating, “So, let’s say he was a person I was obsessed with and somehow I could meet him in a controlled circumstance and he was interested in listening to me… I would actually try to love him. Because, the truth is, he’s never gotten that…So I would ask Joe, I, honestly, feel like I would look at him for a long time. He needs love. It’s like, I would hug him. I would hold him”.

The new series of You will air on Netflix on February 9th, with the second half of the season arriving on the streaming platform on March 9th.
