Must Watch Series

Watch behind the scenes footage of the 'The Umbrella Academy' dance-off

There are many moments of fan pay-off during The Umbrella Academy‘s third season. Whether it is the welcomed transition of Viktor Hargreaves or the continuing appreciation for everything Klaus has to offer this world or even the new love interest that falls for Luther. However, nothing is quite as brilliant as the moment the two opposing groups of superheroes face off.

The series revolves around the mysterious sudden birth of 43 children all over the world, of which seven are adopted by the idiosyncratic billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves; he calls them The Umbrella Academy. The siblings, of whom one is dead, and another alienated due to their alleged lack of superpowers, unite to save the world from an apocalypse at which they miserably fail, leading to the second season where they are sent back in time to amend their mistake.

In the third season, however, a timeline split has meant that they aren’t the only Hargreaves children in town, and The Sparrows are not too pleased to have a new gang encroaching on their space.

According to the synopsis, the “Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong.”

A tale as old as time? Perhaps not. But we all know how this goes down, don’t we? A face-off, a sudden move and a declaration that things must be “settled the old-fashioned way” usually ends in a blood-drenched orgy of violence. However, in this season, things take a turn as the two gangs decided instead to face off in a dance-off, something we’re sure West Side Story would be proud of.

It’s a classic scene from the third season that runs for over three minutes and shows a diligent commitment to ensuring there is an undercurrent of humour in the production. Below, we get to see that all play out as we dive behind the scenes on that day and get to see our favourite actors Elliot Page, Aiden Gallagher, Emmy Raver-Lampman and the rest of the team.

It’s a hilarious watch and deserves to be caught once more as we dive into The Umbrella Academy dance-off scene.
