'Warrior Nun' resurrected after fan campaign for season three

Warrior Nun has accomplished the unheard-of feat. It has returned from the Netflix graveyard of cancelled shows and will return for a third season soon, show creator Simon Barry has confirmed on his Twitter.

The show, which Netflix abruptly cancelled in December 2022, garnered a dedicated following that rallied behind the #SaveWarriorNun movement on social media and managed to revive the beloved series.

Warrior Nun revolves around the story of Ava (played by Alba Baptista), a young girl chosen to join the secret Order of the Cruciform Sword to battle demons and other perilous threats on Earth.

Following the decision by Netflix to pull the plug on the show, fans from around the world united in their efforts to resurrect it for a third season. Barry has now confirmed that their efforts have paid off, assuring fans that Warrior Nun will return.

He hinted at an epic comeback for the series and promised to unveil more details soon. While the exact format of the show’s revival remains undisclosed, Barry previously suggested possibilities such as a movie, animated series, or comic adaptation.

The dedication and determination of the furious fan base were evident throughout the campaign. The movement saw the emergence of numerous international billboards bearing the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun. Additionally, an online fan convention featured guest speakers who had worked on the series.

The Warrior Nun season two finale left viewers on a cliffhanger, with Ava gravely injured and venturing into Reya’s dimension to seek healing. Her departure deeply affected Beatrice, leading her to leave the Order of the Cruciform Sword. However, a final shot featuring a divinium sword hints at Ava’s eventual return and sets the stage for the show’s continuation.

The first two seasons of Warrior Nun are available on Netflix.
