This popular Netflix film trilogy is getting a spin-off series

One of the most beloved franchises of Netflix is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before which showed the story of Lara Jean and Peter. A love and romance so sweet and kind, the show instantly made them Netflix’s ‘it’ couple.

After tracing Lara Jean’s character development as well as chronicling her romantic pursuits over a course of three films, the franchisee will be back with a spin-off TV series that will follow a different lead character in the form of Lara Jean’s sister Kitty.

It was already reported at the beginning of 2021 that Netflix was helming a new TV show that would revolve around Kitty and follow the trajectory to the trilogy saga. Does that mean more letters and fluff? We cannot wait!

However, Netflix has not confirmed if the characters from the film trilogy will be making a return or not. Titled XO, Kitty, the news was made official on Monday.

Anna Cathcart who was seen as Kitty in the trilogy will make a return as the titular character. The show will revolve around Kitty Song Covey’s self-discovery as she navigates her life as a self-proclaimed matchmaker.

When Kitty relocates halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, Kitty will finally understand the effort and complexities involving relationships and possibly even get to taste heartbreak.

The series will be helmed by Sascha Rothchild, alongside the writer of the To All the Boys book series, Jenny Han. They will also serve as executive producers along with ACE Entertainment’s Matt Kaplan.

XO, Kitty is set to have ten 30-minute long episodes. Netflix confirmed the announcement with a short teaser where Kitty hints at the audience by saying “I bet you thought the story was over”.

The email continues, “That there wouldn’t be any more letters… But there’s one Covey sister – some might call her the favourite – whose love story is just beginning.”
