‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 3 is confirmed before Season 2 even premieres: Here’s what we know
Netflix has not even shoved The Hunting Wives season two in front of us yet, and season three already has the green light, which holy moly is quite the vote of confidence when you remember how twitchy streaming renewals have become.
And it is crystal clear why Netflix has got such a strong feeling about this one, because season one was a massive hit, turning what started as an adaptation of May Cobb’s novel into a show people kept coming back to.
Rebecca Cutter sounds pretty buzzing about it too, saying, “I’m super proud of how the scripts for Season 3 are coming out,” while also teasing a bigger world and much higher stakes, which is quite the thing to promise when season two has not even had its own chance to set fire to the place yet.
So now we are in this odd little spot where season three is confirmed and locked in, and Netflix has made it very clear that Maple Brook is not going anywhere.
Why did Netflix renew it before Season 2?
Be so serious, season one numbers of The Hunting Wives basically answer this on their own, because Netflix already knows people showed up for Sophie and Margo and their disasters, and when a show spends five weeks in the Global Top 10, you are not exactly going to keep mum when you know people want more. This was not some wild leap of faith.
Then Rebecca Cutter goes and says viewers are going to finish season two desperate to know what happens next, which, hello, is about as subtle as a siren, because she knows where those episodes leave us and Netflix does too. So the early renewal? Makes sense.
How far along is The Hunting Wives Season 3?
Not vibes-only, and thank God. The scripts are already under work, and Cutter is teasing a bigger world with much higher stakes.
But before we start spiralling, that is basically where the confirmed stuff ends. We don’t have a filming date or cast announcement. So if you see someone telling you they know the whole season three plan already… you should know they are doing too much.
How far will Season 3 move beyond the book?
Oh, miles. We have left the book behind at this point. May Cobb’s 2021 novel gave The Hunting Wives its launchpad, but season two is already way beyond the source material, which means season three is now going to be a brand new story, which is great given Netflix rarely takes such risks. That tells you the story must have enormous potential to go beyond the books.
When will Season 3 release?
No date yet, sadly, but that is the only answer we have, although Netflix has already ordered eight episodes and Cutter is working on the scripts, so at least this is not one of those vague promises that get announced with a trumpet and then sit in a singy corner of the Netflix “Coming Soon” box.
A 2027 release feels like the sensible shout, but that is still a guess rather than Netflix putting its name on a date, so for now November 26th is the one to look forward to because season two gets first dibs on blowing Maple Brook before season three saunters in.
