Picking something to watch over the weekend is more difficult than the thousands of titles on Netflix would try to make you believe. The issue at hand, of course, is that by scrolling through the thousands and thousands of highly acclaimed movies, so many choices can sometimes stupefy an audience humbly looking for a gentle piece of entertainment to fill their lives.

More often than not, we find ourselves doom-scrolling through Netflix, trying to determine our next go-to watch — the next piece of entertainment. Brain fog usually affects our judgement, and we end up grumpy and sleepy, unable to decide on a film. Worry not; we at Best of Netflix have decided to create a comprehensive list for you every week to choose your next weekend watch.

With thousands of movies on offer, finding great content on Netflix isn’t the most challenging thing. However, with so much choice, often, breaking those thousands of titles into a concise list of great movies to watch can feel like an unwelcome uphill task. Thankfully, we’ve done all the hard work for you and picked out some classic movies to sink your teeth into.

5. Bullet Train (2022)

A much-awaited comedy and action film starring Brad Pitt called Ladybug. When Ladybug has failed multiple of his missions, he finally decides to finish one task without casualties. He promises himself peace.

However, when five assassins board the same train, they find out they have something in common. Out for the same thing or out to kill each other? The entire team has targets that collide with each other. Starring alongside Pitt are Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Sandra Bullock, Bad Bunny, and David Leitch.

4. Your Place or Mine (2023)

Following the story of Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher), Your Place or Mine is a unique story focusing on the ever-changing meanings of love. While Debbie loves her meticulous life in LA, Peter loves to change with the ebbs and flows of the bustling streets in New York. When the two decide to swap lives and, thereby, their houses for a week, things change.

They realise that they both want more than what they have settled for in their lives. This romantic comedy features a compelling story and plenty of humour. With an entertaining and rather thought-provoking perspective towards the path each take in their life.

3. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)

Knives Out’s follow-up movie by Rian Johnson, called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, is currently streaming on Netflix.

If you haven’t seen either of these pictures, they make for a high-quality doubleheader. The second instalment is perhaps even better than the first. When Benoit goes off to a Greek island to attend a party with a murder mystery theme, things go out of hand. When an actual murder takes place at the party organised by the one and only billionaire Miles Bron, played by Edward Norton. A star-studded with top performances from each iconic actor makes this movie a must-watch. Some of them are Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Edward Norton, Ethan Hawke, Hugh Grant, and Dave Bautista.

2. Entergalactic (2022)

Created by the mind of Kid Kudi and Kenya Barris, Entergalactic is an animated genius. The story revolves around an ambitious artist called Jabari, played by Kid Kudi himself. When he moves into his dream apartment in Manhattan, he tries his best to balance the love and success that follows him.

Alongside, he falls in love with his neighbour and photographer Meadow (Jessica Williams). All thanks to Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse for opening the gates for an art form contrary to the pre-establish Pixar finishes and thereby opening the gates for the new era in animation. Other actors involved in the film include Timothee Chalamet, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, and 070 Shake.

1. The Man from Toronto (2022)

The Man from Toronto is an American action-comedy released in 2022. Featuring Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, and Kaley Cuoco as leads. A mysterious man named Teddy (Hart) arrives in New York City and is mistaken for a major international crime lord called “The Man from Toronto”.

Now he must team up with a bickering pair of rival assassins (Harrelson and Cuoco) to take down the evil crime lord and protect the city. With non-stop action and witty humour, this movie is full of laughs. The cast is excellent, led by Hart, who proves himself to be a master of comedy and action, as well as Harrelson and Cuoco, who bring great comic timing and energy to their roles. Overall, the movie is great, a fun ride full of laughs and action that will keep you entertained.
