August never looked better entertainment-wise, and the credit goes where it’s due: to Netflix. As is tradition with the streaming giant, it tends to go over the top with its content whenever a new month kicks in. And the audience loves nothing more!
While viewers already got a first taste of August offerings last weekend, it was only the trailer, to be fair.
Now that we’re officially into the month with a full week already behind us, expect the weekend watchlist to emit the glow of all things new.

My Life with the Walter Boys (2023-)
The weekend roster begins on a pretty dramatic note, thanks to My Life with the Walter Boys season three. The highly anticipated instalment opens right after the shocking season two finale, where Alex overheard Jackie and Cole’s love confession, and George suffered a massive stroke, leaving the Walters in panic. With George recovering at home, the third season follows Jackie as she’s thrown into a tug-of-war between her life in Silver Falls and her past.
As for the brothers? Well, the fallout is only expected to strengthen, considering everything that went down in the previous finale. However, as the family rallies around the ranch, My Life with the Walter Boys season three will focus on Alex as he throws his entire energy into his new rodeo team in Hartford. Meanwhile, Cole tries his hand at racing after being noticed by a local drag racer, while Jackie channels her drive into community building.
One Hundred Years of Solitude (2025-)
Another equally high-profile returning series of the week is One Hundred Years of Solitude, inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s epic realist novel. The second part of the Netflix adaptation explores the final 50 years of the Buendia family saga in Macondo, focusing on later generations. The series picks up after the signing of the Treaty of Neerlandia, chronicling Colonel Aureliano’s post-war disillusionment as his 17 sons arrive seeking recognition.
One Hundred Years of Solitude part two captures Macondo’s connection to the outside world with the arrival of railroads and iron tracks, which inadvertently open the gates to foreign corporate exploitation. As big businesses take over Macondo, the once-isolated utopian village evolves into a hotbed of corporate control, leading to the Banana massacre and the ultimate fulfilment of Ursula’s ancestral curse.
Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Controls Justice (2026)
This weekend marathon is going to be diverse in more ways than one. So, if you’re craving some courtroom chaos, Netflix is here to save the day with Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Controls Justice. Set in a contemporary society where public perception is easily exploited by the internet and the media, the series follows Naoto Uramawashi, an eccentric prodigy who is both a lawyer and an architect.
Whenever Naoto sees innocent people falsely framed through fabricated evidence created by influential people to evade accountability, he steps in. In fact, he uses his architectural firm as a private task force, designing meticulous “false blueprints” to expose his enemies and protect his clientele. Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Controls Justice follows a protector of law whose philosophy is simple: if justice faces a setback because of lies, he will use lies to protect it.
Forbidden Woman (2026)
Up next is a gritty Colombian drama, Forbidden Woman, which also just arrived on Netflix. It follows Karen Abelaez, a powerful politician’s wife, who falls in love with famous musician Victor Rodriguez, developing an instantaneous deep connection after he saves her from a sudden shootout during an assassination attempt. Although Karen is married to an ambitious young politician, she can barely control her feelings for Victor.
While Karen and Victor grow closer through shared moments, possibly oblivious to the consequences, her husband’s political schemes and betrayal upend everyone’s lives. But hell actually breaks loose when the politician gets a hunch about the scandalous affair, leading to the scheming of a ruthless trap that forces Karen to make a difficult choice between family and loyalty or freedom and love.
Musafir Café (2026)
As for our last stop this weekend? We wholeheartedly recommend the Hindi-language romantic drama, Musafir Café, based on Divya Prakash Dubey’s bestselling novel. It tells the story of Chander, a software engineer, who meets Sudha, an independent divorce lawyer, through an arranged setup, eventually growing close and forming a deep relationship. Although they share deep ambitions, differing life goals and career paths ultimately separate them.
Years later, when Chander fulfils his dream of running the Musafir Café, he begins sharing a steady companionship with Preeti. But the past has a way of playing with the present, and so it happens. His unresolved emotions around Sudha resurface alongside elements of his former life, forcing him to weigh old love against his new reality. While Musafir Café has been making quite a buzz online, the good news is that it has been renewed for season two. So, there’s more coming your way!
