The five best movies to watch on Netflix on a Sunday

Regardless of which corner of the world you may belong to, a Sunday watch party on Netflix is non-negotiable when the weekend arrives to cure your weeklong fatigue.

Although maintaining the Sunday tradition is not without its routine challenges, the setbacks are not enough to stop fans from flocking to the platform when it comes to it.

With just a few more days until September, viewers are already anticipating a massive content overhaul. But before that happens, make the Sunday marathon worthwhile with all things new on Netflix.

While that umbrella is actually way bigger than it looks, for those planning to squeeze at least half of it, here are the five best movies to stream on Netflix this Sunday.

The five best movies to binge on Netflix this Sunday

Chompoo: Lost & Forgotten (Nontawat Numbenchapol, 2026)

Marking Netflix Thailand’s entry to the streamer’s true-crime catalogue, Chompoo: Lost & Forgotten is an 85-minute-long docufilm that investigates the shocking 2020 disappearance and murder of three-year-old Orawan “Nong Chompoo” Wongsricha in rural Thailand. In May of that year, Nong Chompoo allegedly went missing from her home in Ban Kok Kork, a quaint village in the Mukdahan province of northeastern Thailand.

Although search parties meticulously scoured the area, her body was discovered three days later, high up on a secluded mountain in Phu Pha Yon National Park. While the police investigation dragged on for over a year due to a lack of immediate forensic evidence, Chompoo: Lost & Forgotten primarily focuses on Chaiphol Wipha, Nong Chompoo’s uncle-in-law, who became the primary suspect in the case and, bizarrely, transformed into an internet celebrity.

Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing (Rory Kennedy, 2026)

Serving as the sequel to Rory Kennedy’s 2022 film Downfall: The Case Against Boeing, Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing is a gripping investigative documentary that explores the ongoing corporate culture crisis, manufacturing failures, and the cost of blowing the whistle on the aviation giant. The defining thread of the film revolves around John Barnett, the former Boeing quality manager turned whistleblower, who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2024 during a high-stakes legal deposition.

Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing details how Barnett encouraged more whistleblowers to come forward with their concerns about Boeing’s continued prioritisation of financial profit over customers’ safety, linking recent incidents such as the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 door-plug blowout in early 2024. While they detail a pervasive culture of fear within the company, the movie also tracks the tireless campaign of the victims’ families.

The Dating App Killer: The Monica White Story (Elisabeth Röhm, 2026)

After a few weeks of no-shows, Lifetime thrillers are back on Netflix to give our Sunday binge sessions the elevation they need. Directed by Elisabeth Röhm, The Dating App Killer is based on the unbelievable true story of Monica White, a divorcee seeking companionship, who stumbles into a charming online suitor named Anthony Robinson, oblivious to the fact that beneath his allure lies a dark persona capable of relentless cruelty.

Despite believing she had found genuine companionship, his erratic and aggressive behaviour puts her off when they meet in person. Instead of waiting for Anthony to prove her wrong, Monica trusts her gut to end the relationship, only to find multiple news reports of women going missing from the same dating app she met Robinson through, resulting in a deadly realisation that she narrowly escaped the grasp of a serial killer.

To Catch a Cheater (Damián Romay, 2026)

Another Lifetime thriller to catch up on Netflix this Sunday is To Catch a Cheater, directed by Damián Romay. The gripping crime drama tells the story of Monica, a divorcee, whose teenage daughter Hannah dies under mysterious circumstances. The film opens with Hannah and her friends playing a twisted loyalty test dubbed a “cheating game,” in which they trick and flirt with each other’s boyfriends to see who’s faithful.

But while playing that game, Hannah learns about a hidden affair involving one of the adults in their close-knit community. Before she can confide in her mother, Hannah is found dead, and Monica refuses to believe that it was merely a suicide. To Catch a Cheater follows Monica’s pursuit of the truth as she investigates the timeline of her death, realising that the killer is actually closer to home than she would imagine.

Novocaine (Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, 2025)

Although a 2025 release, Novocaine most recently hit Netflix shelves, automatically making it a must-watch this Sunday. Co-directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the action-comedy movie follows Nathan Caine, a mild-mannered bank worker born with congenital insensitivity to pain (CIPA). As an introvert, Nathan is hesitant to date because of his vulnerability surrounding his medical condition. However, when Sherry enters the scene, he cannot help but feel a deep connection.

But then one fine day, notorious mobster Simon Greenly and his gang rob the bank, catching the employees off guard by shooting his boss and taking Sherry hostage. Refusing to wait for police backup, Novocaine follows Nathan’s high-stakes pursuit to rescue his new girlfriend by turning his rare medical condition into an advantage to commandeer a reckless, one-man rescue mission.
