The five best erotic thrillers on Netflix right now

Thriller, crime-drama, horror, in general, are desirable genres at the moment. Blame the lack of sun or the onset of winter, but we are here and ready to be spooked. Halloween deserves a special mention for the year’s darkest season of shows and films. Like the growth of all of these genres, erotic thrillers are catching up with great speed.

Erotic thrillers are those media objects that have an unhinged sense of crime mingled with love and the desperation that follows it. Around this time every year, the darkest of the dark start resurfacing the dusty shelves of Netflix. This very week’s top ten include shows like The Watcher, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Unsolved Mysteries, and The Midnight Club. Seems like the viewers are bending on a theme.

Looking for erotic thrillers to keep the spice in your pumpkin lattes up? The solution is simple. Here is a list of the five best erotic thrillers currently streaming on Netflix right now! Let Halloween give you yet another reason to stay clued to the edges of your seat.

5. The Paramedic (2020)

The story focuses on two main leads. Angel (Mario Casas) and Vane (Déborah François). This Spanish thriller focuses on the life of Angel after he meets with an accident. We can see the man getting aggravated about not coping with his wheelchair. He was in denial. However, things take a dark turn once he starts obsessing over the woman who decided to leave him. Yes, we have reached Vane. Angel gets obsessed with the thought that Vane has not been faithful to him. Things soon take a very dark turn, and now he plots rather dark and sinister revenge.

Angel let the deterioration of his personal life bleed into other aspects of his life. He was a man in denial who took all his frustration and put it into thought. That his once partner had been unfaithful to him.

4. Cam (2018)

As the name suggests, the story is almost like an onscreen investigative thriller. It follows the life of a camgirl called Lola (Madeline Brewer). Popular Lola, also known as Alice, is climbing steps to reach her ultimate success as a cam girl. Her chats with strangers and private sessions are jumping off the roof. Just then, she realises someone else hacked into her account and stole her identity. Her suspicion turns to the most obvious top-tier cam girls. Who did it? Who is it? The story’s trajectory follows Lola’s journey to unmask the mysterious individual who stole her livelihood and identity.

3. 365 Days (2020)

Despite being critically received, 365 Days has been a big hit for Netflix. With a dicey plot, it received an intense backlash as critics highlighted the plot glorified rape culture and Stockholm syndrome. However, considering that the film became a one-of-a-kind sensation and was definitely deemed profitable, a second part was released earlier this year on August 19th. This Polish erotic thriller sequel of  365 Days: This Day, The Next 365 Days is based on the third edition of the trilogy by Blanka Lipińska

The trilogy is available to watch on Netflix right now. The story follows Laura’s journey to Sicily, which soon gets hijacked as Massimo (Michele Morrone) kidnaps her. Massimo then decides to keep Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) hostage for 365 days to make her fall in love with him. Not the best plot, but everything else was definitely interesting.

2. In the Shadow of Iris (2016)

Iris (Hélène Barbry) disappears. The wife of a young banker disappears in Paris. Investigations started ablaze when a mechanic happened to have connections with her abduction. However, the journey is not that easy. The story slowly unravels with the investigation, only to know that there is a lot more than what merely meets our eyes.

The Shadow of Iris is definitely a must-watch for all thriller lovers. Definitely for the well-written plot, but also the cinematography that compliments the pace of the film.

1. Gerald’s Game (2017)

Definitely been at the top of this list for a while now. Gerald’s Game is a movie with a plot which in itself will give you goosebumps. A worn-out couple decides to take a trip to the outskirts. This trip was taken with the aim of rekindling the passion that the couple once had but are struggling to keep alight in recent times. Jessie and Gerald settle into the isolated haven they decided to spend their time in. Soon after they reach the remote place, Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) experiences a heart attack and passes away.

What serves as an iconic plot twist is that Jessie (Carla Gugino) was handcuffed to the bed whilst that happened. The story follows how Jessie loses her mind being captivated and handcuffed to the bed with no food, water, or help around. We are in for a ride and all for Gerald’s Game.
