The 10 most popular series on Netflix US this week: October 2026

Josh Hartnett has gone from fishing in Newfoundland to fighting a sea monster, and that has got Below sitting at number one on Netflix US. It has pulled 21.2 million global views so far, which is not bad for a bloke whose working day ends with the ocean trying to eat him.

The funny thing is, Hartnett comes from Minnesota, so he had to learn to tie nets and take boating lessons for the role. He and Charlie Heaton used the same dialect coach to sound like family. That’s the kind of dedication that has earned Below the Fame, it is now enjoying conquering not just the US chart but the global one too.

And while East of Eden is donning the second place globally, in the US at number two, Love Is Blind: Boston is back to putting people’s love lives through the wringer, and you know the drill by now. Singles fall for each other without seeing their faces, get engaged, and then discover that getting along in the real world is a different kettle of fish. Dating apps don’t seem half as bad when you think about it.

Third is Instadocs: AI Gone Wild, a 27-minute documentary about autonomous agents involved in a hack at Hugging Face. Its CEO, Clément Delangue, appeared in the film, then accused it of going ‘full doomer mode’ and leaving his corrections out. So Netflix made a film about technology going off script, and the interviewee reckons Netflix did the same.

East of Eden is fourth, and spare a thought for anyone who pretended to read Steinbeck at school: the 1952 novel is having its moment again. Penguin Classics says the Florence Pugh series sent book sales up close to 200%, and it’s gone back to print 25 times this year. Netflix has done more for the reading list than homework reminders.

Fifth-place The Diplomat is back with its fourth season, and while it might be ranking a little low in the Netflix US chart, it will soon be in the top three.

TYSON lands sixth, with the former heavyweight telling his story in four episodes, while Is It Cake? Halloween takes seventh. Raw is eighth, Michael Che’s Shot in Minnesota claims ninth, and Haunted Hotel season two finishes tenth.
