The 10 most popular series on Netflix US this week: September 2026
Netflix US viewers are nothing if not loyal to their one true love: true crime. Just last week, Death of the Pastor’s Wife was donning the top spot on the Top 10 series chart, and now America has passed the crown to Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story. Different murder case, same national hobby. Netflix could probably put crime-scene tape around the number one spot and call it a day.
Lizzie Borden has spent well over a century as one of America’s most notorious true-crime figures, the woman everybody thinks they know, even though a jury acquitted her. Monster has a go at it by making that old headline into something more human, imagining what might have been happening behind closed doors and, crucially, inside Lizzie’s head. So yes, there is history here, but Ryan Murphy has filled some of the voids with his own creative liberty.
Crew Girl is enjoying its second week in the charts, staying steady in the second spot. Guess what America loves after a gruesome murder: a teenage high school love triangle. After the massive success of Off Campus, shows like Crew Girl have got a second wind.
And next, we have a factory-fresh candidate, Jo Koy: Blue in the Face, and it’s his sixth Netflix stand-up special. Filmed at a sold-out Stockton Arena, the special has Jo Koy getting nostalgic about his own life again, joking about jobs and the family stories that have always been a big part of his act.
Wrestling is next on the Netflix list because why should true crime have all the drama? Raw: 2026 – September 14th, 2026 came from Mexico City, Raw’s first trip there in 15 years, with Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta. Reigns won; Penta made him work for it.
The Perfect Lie rounds out the first five, and this Dutch thriller has travelled rather well. Based on Saskia Noort’s The Dinner Club, The Perfect Lie starts with a deadly house fire, and then, little by little, the lies inside this wealthy group of friends start coming out.
And the bottom half? Still murder-heavy, cheers. I Survived a Serial Killer is at number sixth and last week’s champion, Death of the Pastor’s Wife, slips to seventh. Gabby’s Dollhouse: season fourteen brings some innocence to the whole thing but is followed by The Gentlemen season two and Danny Go! season two closes the shop.
