Netflix’s top ten series from last week consists of an eclectic mix of drama, mystery, documentary, and even animation.
Kicking off the list at number one is One Piece, the epic anime and manga series come to life in a live-action adaptation for Netflix. It has garnered a staggering 140.1million hours viewed in just one week. Set in a world of pirates, mystical powers, and grand adventures, One Piece follows the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat pirates crew in search of the ultimate treasure, the legendary One Piece.
In second place is Who is Erin Carter? a limited series that has held viewers captive for 90.3m hours. This mystery action drama delves into the enigmatic life of Erin Carter, a British teacher in Spain, who “finds herself caught up in a supermarket robbery. When one of the robbers claims to recognise her, her life threatens to unravel.”
Taking the third spot is Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, a documentary series that unravels the secrets of communities living in the Blue Zones, where people live remarkably long and healthy lives, offering insights into longevity and well-being.
Painkiller claims the fourth position with 16.7m hours viewed. This drama delves into the opioid crisis, uncovering the devastating effects of prescription painkillers on individuals and communities.
Meanwhile, in fifth place, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season two is the reality series that puts relationships to the test as couples must decide whether to tie the knot or part ways. Next is another dose of reality. Depp V Heard takes the sixth spot with 6.5m hours viewed, showing the online drama surrounding the legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Seventh place goes to Untold: Swamp Kings season one, which has 5.8m hours of viewing time. This documentary series “explores how legendarily ruthless football coach Urban Meyer turned the ragtag 2000s-era Florida Gators into a ferocious winning machine.”
The younger audience is not to be left out, as the eighth seasons of animated shows CoComelon and Gabby’s Dollhouse secure the eighth and ninth positions.
Finally, rounding out the top ten is Disenchantment, with 6.6m hours viewed. Matt Groening’s animated fantasy series continues to enchant audiences with the misadventures of Princess Bean and her quirky companions in the magical kingdom of Dreamland in the series finale.
