The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: May 2026
So, if you’ve been checking Netflix this week and noticed Man on Fire sitting right at the top, you’re not imagining it. It seems like everyone is bingeing it all at once. And no, not the old Denzel Washington film from 2024. This is the new 2026 series, and it’s taken off within a few days.
It’s based on the same A.J. Quinnell novel, but this time it’s stretched out into a full series instead of a movie, which actually gives the story and characters a bit more room to breathe. You’ve got Yahya Abdul-Mateen II playing John Creasy, a former Special Forces operative who is clearly not in a great place when we meet him. The story is more or less the same as we watch him getting pulled into the gritty world of crime, and he ends up protecting a young girl while trying to work out who is behind everything.
What’s special about this adaptation of the book is that it spends a fair bit of time on him as a character, which people didn’t necessarily expect going in. That’s probably why it’s held attention rather than people dropping off after an episode or two.
Right behind it is Should I Marry A Murderer?, which belongs to Netflix viewers’ favourite format: limited series. It’s a true crime series, but it focuses more on relationships and real cases where people ended up tied to someone far more dangerous than they realised. It’s been doing the rounds for more than a week now, which tells you people are bingeing it from start to end.
Then you’ve got the first season, Unchosen, still holding a strong position in the list. If you happen to like the shows that expose cults and speak against the unfair, it is for you. But don’t get it confused with a real story or a documentary. Yes, it is inspired by real events, but this is a dramatic version starring Fra Fee, Asa Butterfield and Mully Windsor. The reason why it is still going strong is that it gives you just enough in each episode to keep you going without spelling everything out.
Running Point season two coming in next won’t surprise anyone who watched the first season. With Kate Hudson in the lead, the show is about a basketball team which her character manages, but the real focus is on everything behind the scenes. What’s worth noting is that both season two and season one are in the Top 10 at the same time, which usually means people are finishing the new season and then going back to the start.
Hulk Hogan: Real American is another limited series doing numbers, and even if you are not into wrestling, it’s one of those you end up trying out of curiosity. It covers his rise, the controversies and not just the highlights. That mix of nostalgia and behind-the-scenes detail has clearly captivated the viewers.
Then you’ve got the Raw: 2026 – April 27, 2026, episode as usual. The main focus is on Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu, with their rivalry getting pushed forward ahead of Backlash. You’ve also got a few matches moving other storylines along, plus Joe Hendry showing up for his Raw debut, which added something new.
Lower down, as we mentioned, Running Point season one is trending. It means new viewers are starting from the beginning rather than skipping ahead, which doesn’t always happen.
Then there’s Danny Go! season one, which is a completely different vibe. It is more family-friendly and clearly aimed at younger viewers, but it is doing well enough to hold a spot. Same with Salish & Jordan Matter season one, which is a fusion of social media content with Netflix. It’s not traditional TV, but it’s pulling in views.
And then, right at the end, you’ve got Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 season one, which is probably there because it’s coming from the makers of the biggest show on Netflix, and people have curiosity.
So if you’ve been wondering where to start, most people have clearly gone straight for Man on Fire, but depending on what you’re into, you’ve got a decent spread sitting right behind it.
