The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: May 2023

There is always an interesting new series to sink your teeth into on Netflix. This week’s most popular chart provides just that as it delivers across a range of genres and styles to prove that Netflix audiences are as varied as ever.

Of course, though there is a sense of newness within the top ten chart, there are many titles which are hanging in the most popular list. Beef is still in the top five, with over 24million hours of viewing, The Night Agent and Firefly Lane are enjoying their sixth week in the chart with 38million and 43million hours of viewing, respectively.

But there are some new entries too, namely Sweet Tooth season two, which enjoyed 48million hours of viewing. The whimsical series has gathered a host of fans and a crop of new watchers as season one has also entered the chart with 19million hours of viewing. Other new entries are the seventh season of Wokin’ Moms, Indian Matchmaking and its third season.

Better Call Saul is probably the biggest release of the month, and the sixth season is enjoying its second week in the top ten chart as its baying audience awaits the final entry of this particular saga.

However, topping the chart for another week is the intense political drama The Diplomat. Created by Debora Cahn, the show stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the newly-appointed US ambassador to the United Kingdom, as she negotiates the political and personal in one fell swoop. The show has been such a success that it has been given a second series almost instantly.
