Usually, Netflix stays quite tight-lipped when it comes to confirming the second season of a beloved show, but with The Diplomat, they’ve changed their tact.
Netflix recently confirmed that it would renew The Diplomat, starring Keri Russell, for a second series. The political thriller tells the story of Ambassador Kate Wyler (Russell), a diplomat who lands a high-profile job that she’s not ready to take on, especially with her mounting personal issues. Thanks to terrific writing from Debora Cahn, and performances from the likes of Rufus Sewell, Ali Ahn and Rory Kinnear, the series has thrived since its release.
Speaking to The Wrap to reveal the news, Jinny Howe, Netflix’s vice president of drama series, stated: “Fans around the world are loving every minute of The Diplomat’s gripping and propulsive drama, and embracing Keri Russell’s powerful performance as Kate Wyler…After that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, we can’t wait for them to see what the amazing visionary team of Debora Cahn, Janice Williams and Keri Russell have in store for Season 2″.
