A new month has just begun, which means Netflix users are closer to seeing some upcoming summer releases. Until then, springtime may see some older releases rewatched to hold viewers by. Here are the most popular series on Netflix this week.
Kicking off the top ten list with 154,970,000 viewing hours is the third season of Outer Banks, the mystery drama series created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. The show focuses on a conflict between two teenage groups in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and Madison Bailey.
Speaking to W Magazine about the final season, Cline shared: “The last two episodes feel like a short film because of the expanse of what we were trying to achieve; it’s the accumulation of the last 30 episodes. I remember reading the last two episodes.”
She added: “I was grateful they trusted me with some of the voiceovers this season. It lets the audience get a front row seat to how (her character Sarah is) feeling and what she’s thinking.”
Behind Outer Banks is Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal. This show traces the events surrounding a powerful South Carolina attorney accused of murdering his wife and child. Alex Murdaugh pleaded not guilty to the charges in the trial, which is entering its sixth week and has overseen stories of corruption, substance abuse and a failed hitman suicide plot. Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal holds 40,050,000 viewing hours.
Tim Burton’s Wednesday remains on the list for its 14th week, racking up 18,950,000 viewing hours. The series, a re-telling of the classic Addams Family, stars horror it-girl Jenna Ortega as the titular character.
The final season of Frank Darabont’s post-apocalyptic horror drama The Walking Dead takes the last spot on the most popular series list with 15,940,000 viewing hours. The Walking Dead debuted in 2010 and became one of America’s most popular and discussed shows. An ensemble cast plays an ever-changing band of survivors fighting off flesh-eating zombies.
