The ten most popular series on Netflix that had viewers hooked in the week of July 3rd to July 9th are all new releases, barring a couple of old classics thrown in the mix.
Taking the lead at number one is the highly anticipated The Witcher season three volume one. This fantasy epic, created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, attracted a staggering 66.5 million hours of viewership. Geralt of Rivia, portrayed by Henry Cavill, returns one last time even though the show has plans to continue with more seasons with Liam Hemsworth in the lead.
In second place, The Lincoln Lawyer season two has garnered 31million hours of viewing. This legal drama series, based on the novels by Michael Connelly, is created by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey, who brings the captivating courtroom battles to life. It stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, originally portrayed by Matthew McConaughey in the 2011 film of the same name.
Comedian Tom Segura’s stand-up special, Sledgehammer, has nestled in the third spot, drawing in 4.6 million hours viewed with his unique brand of humour and witty storytelling. The hour-long comedy extravaganza has left audiences in splits.
Also making waves is the anthology series Black Mirror season six. Charlie Brooker’s dystopian vision garnered 16million watch hours this week, despite mostly being critically panned.
Other notable series featured in the top ten include the legal drama Suits season one, the mesmerising documentary series voiced by Sir David Attenborough, Our Planet: II, and the first and second seasons of the fantasy adventure series The Witcher.
