This week’s most popular movies chart in the US proves Netflix always has something for everybody. And nobody can convince subscribers otherwise.

During the week of October 19th to October 25th, Ben Affleck’s kidnapping thriller Animals didn’t just conquer the global rankings. The crime drama also scooted to the top of Netflix’s most popular movies chart Stateside after amassing a whopping 10.7million views and becoming the number one movie in 15 countries!

Although the US chart often mirrors the global chart, this is one such week where the differences take the cake.

So, ranked second on this week’s most popular movies chart in the US is the epic historical sequel Gladiator II. While the star-studded movie also made the global list, the 2024 movie is positioned second from the top Stateside instead of second from the bottom. And that says a lot!

The next entry on this week’s most popular movies chart in the US is the 2026 disaster drama Surviving Hurricane Otis, based on the unprecedented Category 5 storm that hit Acapulco, Mexico, in October 2023.

Following closely at number four is the 2026 animated special Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Attack of the T-Rex, which was also one of the top five candidates on this week’s most popular movies chart globally. Although the animation frenzy seems to be at an all-time high internationally, this is the only ride from the genre that US viewers seemingly couldn’t resist and for good reason.

That said, rounding out the top five movies on Netflix’s most popular movies in the United States this week is the dark comedy thriller Sacrifice, starring Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy. While the title is nowhere to be seen on the global rankings, the US audience is clearly all in on it.

Up next on the most popular movies chart in the US is the Lifetime romantic drama Terry McMillan Presents: Preach, Pray, Love, which recently hit Netflix shelves this month. Succeeding it at number seven is another romantic drama, Hollywood Dirt, followed by another romantic, adventurous blast from the past, Twilight.

Meanwhile, Eric Appel’s 2026 comedy film The Breadwinner is positioned ninth on the most popular movies chart, which completes a five-week streak. Lastly, The Fate of the Furious closes the top 10 US trendsetters of the week on Netflix, and with that, it’s a wrap here!
