The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: October 2024

As another week passes, Netflix‘s films that are doing the best continually change. The thing that most people love about the platform is that new movies are added every day. This means new titles rise to the top of the chart in popularity, and there are always new movies that people are talking about.

This week, quite a few titles have made their way into the top ten that weren’t there previously. Some stubborn movies persist. For instance, Sing is celebrating its 12th week in the top ten, as families worldwide seem reluctant to stop watching the heart-warming musical. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Rebel Ridge, and IT’S WHAT’S INSIDE are also celebrating consecutive weeks in the top ten.

Making its way to the top of the pile and new to the top ten list altogether is the documentary The Menendez Brothers. This tells the story of Joseph and Erik Menendez, who killed their parents and lived a brief life of luxury using the money which was left for them.

The documentary is likely doing well because of the newest Monster dramatisation series, which shows a loose portrayal of the Menendez Brothers’ life. The series highlights the contrasting stories between the case’s defence and prosecution.

“While the prosecution argued that were seeking to inherit their family fortune,” reads a synopsis, “The brothers claimed – and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole – that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.” Despite the shows popularity, it has come under fire recently as the Menendez family state it is “riddled with mistruths.”

Other films that have made it into the top ten include The Predator, Lonely Planet, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The comic book movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage is also at number seven in the chart. Fans are likely watching the movie to prepare for the franchise’s third instalment, The Last Dance, which is set to be released on October 25th.

In a recent snippet for the film, it was revealed that Knull would be the movie’s antagonist. One of the character’s co-creators indicated that he had no idea his creation would even appear in the film. “Yes, I did co-create Knull,” said Ryan Stagman, “No, I didn’t know until today that he was gonna be in Venom: The Last Dance.”
