The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: October 2026

People, someone has been playing the thermostat at Netflix this week because half the movie chart’s been taken over by Ice Age movies, and we are talking about five films from the same franchise in the Top 10. And if you’re having a laugh, just know you’re the culprit in this case because it’s the viewers who have got these movies roaring in the chart.

At this point it isn’t nostalgia anymore… that’s a full-on woolly mammoth fest, and they’ve practically moved in and put their feet up, but somehow Ben Affleck’s still holding the fort.

That’s right, his kidnapping thriller Animals has pulled in a whopping 30.8 million views, which is absolutely mental when you think about it, because he wasn’t just on camera, but he directed it as well, and he’s playing this LA mayoral candidate whose son’s been kidnapped, with Kerry Washington playing his missus. The guy is surrounded by absolute chaos where all he’s trying to do is win an election, while some dodgy guy out there is demanding ransom money.

Then you’ve got Doing Life hanging about near the top. Tyler Perry is back at it again, this time with a single mum exchanging letters with some man in prison, Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves leading the way, and Perry’s written and directed the thing himself. With a pretty successful run of shows and movies on Netflix this year, and a few still coming your way, Perry has had a fantastic year.

Next we have the Ice Age: Collision Course, and don’t even get us started on it. Scrat’s gone and launched himself into space chasing that stupid acorn, accidentally threatening the whole planet with an asteroid.

Still, it’s good to see Dawn of the Dinosaurs getting some love, and Simon Pegg as Buck is an absolute madman, running around with dinosaurs like he’s got nothing to lose, while Sid’s out there stealing dinosaur eggs, typical Sid. Honestly, you can’t trust that silly sloth with anything.

And the original Ice Age is still knocking about 24 years later, Blue Sky Studios’ first feature back in 2002, just a grumpy mammoth and a squirrel obsessed with an acorn, simple as that. Judging by this week’s chart, somebody ought to turn that thermostat back up, because this Ice Age doesn’t look like it’s ending any time soon.
