The most popular movies chart has been the go-to source to understand what’s trending on Netflix. And well, this week? The trendsetters are one too many.

During the week of August 10th to August 16th, The Last House has held on to the throne on the most popular movies chart for a second straight week with 33.5million views. While Louis Leterrier’s sci-fi thriller remains the number-one movie in 82 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, the Bahamas, Canada, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica, among others, this week’s viewership surpassed the debut-week figure of 27.5m views.

Ranked second on the most popular movies chart this week is, of course, the Sunny Sandler dramedy Don’t Say Good Luck, which premiered on August 14th. The bittersweet movie, based on a touching true story, debuted on Netflix’s most popular movies chart with 8.1million views. As of now, the Netflix original film is one of the Top 10 trending titles in 61 countries.

Up next on the most popular movies chart is a post-apocalyptic blast from the past, Extinction, directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas. With 7.4million views, the 2015 film is now one of the Top 10 trending titles in 77 countries.

Following closely at number four is Tim Story’s laugh-out-loud comedy, 72 HOURS, starring Kevin Hart, with 6million views. While the Netflix movie seems to have made itself right at home for four consecutive weeks, succeeding it on the most popular movies chart this week is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with 4.3million views.

Next in line is the 2024 Mark Wahlberg adventure movie Arthur the King, with 4.1million views, ranked sixth on the most popular movies chart. Meanwhile, ranked seventh on the international chart is the 2003 teen comedy What a Girl Wants, based on William Douglas-Home’s 1955 play The Reluctant Debutante, with 3.5m views.

While the entire world is caught up in the craze of Tom Holland’s Spidey comeback in Brand New Day, Netflix is banking on the momentum with yet another superhero movie from his credit list, Spider-Man: Far from Home, currently positioned seventh on the most popular movies chart with 3.4million views.

On number nine, we have the Oscar-winning KPop Demon Hunters, maintaining its momentum on the most popular movies chart for 61 consecutive weeks with 3.3million views. As for the title rounding out this week’s cinematic trends? It’s Liam Neeson’s In the Land of Saints and Sinners, also with 3.3m views.
