While our list of the most popular series of the week is celebrating a brand new leader of the charts, with The Night Agent becoming the most successful premiere of 2023 so far, there is no such salutations on the list of the most watched movies of the week.
The head of the pack is, once again, Luther: The Fallen Sun, enjoying its third week at the pinnacle of the charts with 25million hours of viewing. Led by Idris Elba, who is trying to stop a serial killer, played by Andy Serkis, while stuck in jail, it may have its detractors, but it offers a welcoming populist action movie theme that is hard to turn down.
While the top of the pile is still dominated by Detective John Luther, there are some new entries to this week’s proceedings. The creepy addition of I See You offers the most value, with 13million hours of viewing for the paranormal goosebump-fest. Elsewhere, we have two new entries from the past.
Ahead of the sequel, which arrives on Netflix on March 31st, the original Murder Mystery, a mad-cap comedy driven by Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, has hit the top ten chart. Perhaps two of Hollywood’s most lovable actors attempt to solve a murder while clearing their own name — set in the beautiful landscapes of Europe, this is a guaranteed family favourite.
Vin Diesel helms the other new entry from the past. Riddick is one of the few films starring the action man that doesn’t involve him protecting his family. Instead, he acts as a cavalier criminal left to die on a scorched planet, battling aliens and mercenaries in the hope of survival and escape.
Elsewhere, there are some films for the kids, Minions: The Rise of Gru and some for the adults, Money Shot: The Pornhub Story, and some for absolutely nobody, Dragged Across Concrete, but really this is a fallow week for new movies.
