The 10 most popular films on Netflix this week: July 2023

From action-packed thrillers to animated adventures and heartwarming comedies, a diverse bunch of films storming the Netflix global top ten chart this week.

At the pinnacle of this week’s chart is The Out-Laws, the heist comedy reigning supreme in its debut week. It has finally dethroned Extraction 2 from the top spot. Directed by Tyler Spindel and starring Adam DeVine, Pierce Brosnan, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin, and Poorna Jagannathan, this clichéd comedy has garnered a staggering 31million hours viewed.

Following closely behind is Extraction 2, the Chris Hemsworth sequel to the adrenaline-pumping action flick Extraction. This explosive film, directed by Sam Hargrave, may not have a great story, but it has a few spectacular action sequences. Extraction 2 has amassed an impressive 18million hours viewed in its fourth week on the charts.

Fans of animated movies have propelled Nimona to the third spot. Directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno, this enchanting film follows the adventures of a mischievous shape-shifter, Nimona (voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz) and Ballister Boldheart (voiced by Riz Ahmed).

In the fourth spot is the critically panned, suspenseful thriller Run Rabbit Run, starring Succession star Sarah Snook. Meanwhile, the documentary about George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s hit pop band, WHAM! makes its mark as the eighth most popular film on Netflix this week, with 7million hours viewed.

Rounding out the top ten are hit documentary Unknown: The Lost Pyramid, action flick Sniper: Assassin’s End, neo-western Old Henry, Dwayne Johnson’s action thriller Skyscraper, and the animated Woody Woodpecker.
