The 10 most highly anticipated movies coming to Netflix

If you are a cinephile or not, Netflix has a bright new list of highly anticipated movies heading its way. Over the course of the coming year, Netflix is dropping a list of exciting new collaborations and projects amongst various celebrated auteurs. The following list includes all those movies that viewers have been waiting on for months on end.

Before diving in, catch the exciting films coming to Netflix in May, so you don’t have to miss out on any big releases. That said, the following year is filled with dream-worthy collaborations and a bright year for animation. Experimentation within cinema has been at its all-time peak. This is exciting for any avid watcher as their palette is about to be mixed up for the better.

First up is BRZRKR, which does not yet have a release date. Berzerker, an immortal warrior, is coming in to fight his way through the ages. Making revolutions on the path of history. With Keanu Reever headlining the movie, this has been a dream in the making. Landing on the 10th of November is the wonderful Chicken Run sequel, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.

The new film sees Ginger find a peaceful island shelter for the entire flock after escaping from Tweedy’s farm. Back on the mainland, however, the entire chicken-kind confronts a new threat, and Ginger and her squad plan to infiltrate.

Maestro is another big hitter coming to the streaming platform and will recount Leonard and Felicia’s complicated love story, which began in 1946 at a party and continues through two engagements, a 25-year marriage, and three children: Jamie Bernstein, Alexander Bernstein, and Nina Bernstein Simmons. Director Bradley Cooper strikes yet again. Havoc will also arrive later this year with a plot which revolves around a battered detective who must battle his way through a criminal underworld to save a politician’s estranged kid while unravelling a complex web of corruption and conspiracy that engulfs his whole city. Tom Hardy is bringing in the rain on his action scenes yet again.

One of the biggest releases of May sees Jennifer Lopez return in a new movie, this time in the action genre. The Mother, is more about thrills than laughter, and it marks the American pop star’s feature film debut on Netflix. While fleeing from threatening adversaries, an assassin emerges from concealment to defend her daughter, whom she had abandoned earlier in life.

David Yates is best known for his work on the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, and now he’s tackling the crime-drama genre with an all-star ensemble that includes Chris Evans and Emily Blunt in Pain Hustlers. In 2023, Netflix will have an extremely busy but fantastic month in October.

Gal Gadot has been working on a variety of projects for Netflix, most notably the Red Notice film franchise. Gadot will reprise her role in Netflix’s next spy thriller, Heart of Stone which will arrive in August.

One of the biggest releases of the year is Rebel Moon which arrives in December. The troops of a despotic ruler named Balisarius threaten a peaceful colony on the galaxy’s rim. Desperate, the colonists send a young lady with an unknown history to seek out warriors from other worlds to assist them in making a stand. Created by the one and only, Zack Snyder.

The Electric State is also expected this year and is one of the Russo brothers’ most ambitious undertakings since leaving Marvel. Millie Bobby Brown will return for yet another Netflix production, as the streaming service continues to prioritise her in some of their most interesting projects.

Perhaps our favourite upcoming release is The Killer. An isolated and cold man, meticulous and free of scruples or regrets, the killer lurks in the shadows, waiting for his next victim. And yet, the longer he waits, he fears he’ll lose his head, if not his calm. This is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth, and progressively losing his sanity. In a horrific, gory, and sophisticated neo-noir novel about a professional assassin trapped in a world without a moral compass. Directed by the legend of darkness and creators of hit movies like Gone Girl, Zodiac, Fight Club, and Mindhunter himself, David Fincher.
