'Stranger Things' actress reveals which scene was the most difficult to shoot

Stranger Things has become a global phenomenon since its inception in 2016. Running four seasons strong, the series has several episodes which have been an exhausting and exhilarating experience for the cast and crew.

Actress Sadie Sink, who plays Max in the show, revealed which scene, according to her, was the most difficult and challenging to shoot.

The first volume of the fourth season premiered on May 27th, 2022. Emotionally charged, dark and brutal, the show takes place across three distinct locations, namely Hawkins, California and Kamchatka in Russia.

As the Duffer brothers said, the season is pretty “Max-heavy” and sees Sink enact some of the most emotionally taxing and difficult sequences. From grappling with the grief and guilt of losing her step-brother Billy Hargrove towards the end of the previous season to having a terrifying face-off with the nightmare-inducing Vecna, Max has a pretty rough time in the fourth season.

Sink talked about the scene where Max has apparitions of Billy coming to life. Played by Dacre Montgomery, the scene was actually filmed in two different locations across the globe.

Due to Covid-19 protocols, Montgomery was filmed in Australia and the two scenes were seamlessly edited by the crew to create an emotional scene. No wonder the episodes cost nearly $30 million!

Sink revealed that it was the most “challenging” scene to film “because so much of Max and Billy’s relationship comes from the onscreen chemistry that me and Dacre have.”

“Being used to working with him and reading with him for two seasons now, and then having to do a really important scene with him but not have him there, was definitely very tricky,” said Sink.

She added, “I definitely did get a little frustrated when I was on set, but I think I kind of channelled it into the scene as much as I could and ended up getting, I think, a pretty good result — and obviously, the visual effects team really stepped in and made it look as realistic as possible.”

The second volume of Stranger Things season four is scheduled for a July 1st, 2022 premiere and will explore the exploits of Vecna even more.
