Shawn Levy says 'Stranger Things' season 4 is "coming soon enough"

Stranger Things season 3 ended with an emotional cliffhanger that left fans shocked and yearning for more. With the cast members teasing the audience with various insights into the fourth season, Twitteratis have started talking about the upcoming season, which, according to Finn Wolfhard, is supposed to be the “darkest season that’s ever been [made]”. To that, we say, “Drop the trailer already!”

A highly anticipated season, fans can no longer keep waiting to see what lies in store for their favourite characters. To appease their appetite, executive producer Shawn Levy told Variety that new episodes were “coming soon enough”.

Netflix released the first teaser for the fourth season in February 2021, titled From Russia with Love; the clip shows that Jim Hopper is alive and kicking in a snow-capped Russian facility.

The other teaser trailer, titled Eleven, Are You Listening, landed in June 2021. This trailer gives us an insight into Eleven’s childhood at the laboratory with a visibly distressed Millie Bobby Brown reliving the traumatic memories.

Levy clarified the causes for the delay and blamed the pandemic for disrupting the shooting schedule. “The delay is due in large measure to COVID and the pace at which we have to work to do so safely, but it also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It’s the scale of this season and the multi-settings of season four”, he said in the interview.

The cast and crew had begun shooting soon after the pandemic struck and, thus, lockdown pushed production back for an unprecedented amount of time. It, however, resumed production in October 2020, heeding all safety measures and COVID-19 protocols.

Levy has promised the official and concrete announcements will arrive “quite soon”, which indicates the probable reveal of the season trailer and premiere date isn’t that far away. It has been quite some time since Stranger Things have dropped a season, and it would perhaps be the best Christmas gift to fans if they decide to stream it by the end of 2021.
