‘Shadow and Bone’ fans pressure Netflix for season three

Netflix has been known for culling content in recent months, but fans of the drama Shadow and Bone are willing to boycott the streaming service altogether if they see the show cancelled.

The action-adventure series follows an orphan mapmaker who unleashes a powerful force that has dark forces across the land conspiring against her. Starring the likes of Jessie Mei Li, Freddy Carter, Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, Amita Suman and Kit Young, the fantasy show follows in the footsteps of Netflix’s other medieval series, The Witcher, which boasts hoards of loyal fans from across the world.

Now in its second series, Shadow and Bone hit the top spots on the platform’s list of the most-watched series last week, but fans still believe a third season of the show isn’t nailed on.

Taking to Twitter, fans urged others to watch the programme in order to boost the show’s viewing figures, whilst others altogether stated that they would boycott the streaming platform if season three never came to light. Whilst fans begged Netflix for a new series, others accepted that a third season may not be on the cards and turned their attention to the rumoured spin-off show Crows instead.

Close to being confirmed by the streaming service, the Shadow and Bone creator Eric Heisserer recently told Entertainment Weekly: “One of the reasons, not all of them, that I got the privilege of working with Daegan Fryklind as co-showrunner in season 2 is that I was busy with the writers’ room for Six of Crows…We are ready to launch that as its own story…The eight-episode scripts are phenomenal and I’m really proud of my team for those”.

Whilst we patiently await for the spin-off series to be greenlit, take a look at the trailer for season two of Shadow and Bone below.
