Seven new releases you have to watch on Netflix this weekend

The weekend is finally here, and after five days of hard work, we think you deserve to recline on the sofa and take in some quality Netflix material, here are our picks for the seven new releases you need to check out this week.

The first is Locke & Key: Season 3. Flying under the radar of many viewers, the series follows the three Locke siblings and their mother who move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, a place full of magical keys that help them solve the mystery of their father’s murder. Cute and creative, Netflix have kept this series largely under wraps.

Speaking of third seasons, Netflix are also dropping the penultimate series of Never Have I Ever this week. Having announced the cancellation of the show after its fourth season to be released in the future, enjoy Netflix’s celebrated Never Have I Ever whilst you still can. Telling the story of the complicated life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl, the series follows Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her relationship with Paxton (Darren Barnet) as they both try to navigate the pitfalls of young life.

Taking the focus away from TV, Netflix are also bringing two major movies to the platform, Day Shift, starring Jamie Foxx and the adaptation, 13: The Musical. Hoping to be the next big thing when it comes to movie musicals, 13 looks like sweet saccharine fun, whilst Day Shift looks to be offering the opposite, telling the story of a hard-working father who secretly hunts and kills vampires for a living.

Based on the hit comic series, School Tales The Series: Season 1 also hits the platform. School Tales sees eight new terrifying ghost stories set in schools hit the streaming service. Helmed by six different Thai directors, the new series is hoping to score the pants off viewers across the world and seize a young demographic at the very same time, no doubt enticed by the school setting.

Our last two recommendations look like a hell of a load of fun, with the first being Indian Matchmaking season 2. With eight hour-long episodes, the show sees singletons fall in love with a professional matchmaker at their side.

Lastly, our final recommendation goes to Bank Robbers: The Last Great Heist, Netflix’s real-life version of the five-season Spanish-language heist drama.
