Netflix has already released some new photos chronicling the final 12 episodes of the popular show Grace and Frankie. After airing four episodes of season seven in August 2021, the show will finally come to an end with these final episodes on April 29th, 2022.
On Twitter last week, Netflix posted a bittersweet note, saying, “The sun’s about to set. We’re just getting lit.”
Starring the iconic duo of Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, this fan favourite series chronicles the unusual friendship between two elderly women with polar opposite lifestyles and personalities when their worlds collide and their husbands fall in love and marry each other.
Created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, the show has a distinct positive feel to it and highlights the beauty and challenges of ageing. With 94 episodes, this is the longest-running Netflix Original.
While the pictures do not give away much of the plot details, it shows the titular women enjoying large margaritas in a Mexican restaurant.
In another tender shot, they are seen putting their heads together, looking at each other fondly. Another shot shows Grace curled up in a suspended chair with a martini in her hand, looking quite baffled.
Their husbands, Sol and Robert, played by Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen, are seen sharing a vulnerable moment in one of the photos as well.
Grace and Robert’s daughters and Frankie and Sol’s adoptive children, too, feature in some of the photos.
The rest of the cast will include Ethan Embry, Baron Vaughn, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Peter Cambor, Christina Woods, Peter Gallagher, Lindsey Kraft, Tim Bagley and Marsha Mason. Dolly Parton will be making a guest appearance.
