Season four of ‘Monster’ has been confirmed
The Monster anthology is officially coming back for more with a season four. Co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the Monster anthology series on Netflix follows the lives of monstrous killers with a checkered rap sheet and even worse reputation. The first season highlighted the spine-chilling true story of Jeffrey Dahmer, while the second shed light on the infamous murder of the Menendez brothers.
Netflix announced a third instalment, The Original Monster, on the notorious killer, Ed Gein, last September. The streaming giant has yet to confirm a premiere date for the same. However, according to Variety, citing industry sources, the fourth instalment of the TV series is already in the works. It’s important to note that Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Monster for a fourth run.
But as per scoopers, the crew is currently warming up with their sights set on a fall shoot. The forthcoming fourth season will focus on the Lizzie Borden case. For those uninitiated with her infamy, Borden lived in Massachusetts in the late 1800s. In 1892, she became a subject of nationwide attention after she was allegedly accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe.
Borden was gradually found not guilty. However, the heinous act attracted major public scrutiny, contributing to her relevance in popular culture. In fact, Netflix is not the first one to eye the case to bring it to a larger audience. Several adaptations are available on the Lizzie Borden case, including the film Lizzie starring Kristen Stewart and Chloë Sevigny.
Moving on to Netflix’s upcoming chapter, The Original Monster starring Charlie Hunnam is expected to hit the shelves later this year. The Original Monster will follow the bloodthirsty rampage that Gein caused in the 1950s. But it’s not just his merciless killings.
The authorities had dug deep into Gein’s barbarism, which includes digging up graves from a cemetery near his house and using the household items and clothes from the human remains. The season also has Lauri Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams in the cast.
When Monster was originally released on Netflix, it garnered international attention. The chart-topping sensation stood the test of time with its second instalment. And now that seasons three and four are on the way, hell is sure to break loose.
