Everything you need to know about Netflix romance ‘Return to You’
Remember the time when practically every new Lindsay Lohan project came saddled with the word “comeback”, as though she had to reintroduce herself every time she did a new film. Good thing that label has outlived its usefulness by now because seriously, what a nightmare!
Falling for Christmas brought her back to Netflix in 2022, followed by Irish Wish. Then came Our Little Secret, and along the way, the novelty wore off.
Generally, it might’ve been a bad thing, but for Lindsay Lohan, she finally got rid of that damn word, which is funny because her new Netflix film is called Return to You.
Another thing to pay attention to here is that it is coming from Mark Waters, who directed Lohan in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. Henry Golding is along for the ride as well, and to jog your memory, he’s the same star from The Crazy Rich Asians. All in all, a fresh pair after so long.
What is Return to You about?
Lohan plays a powerful but lonely attorney who receives a DVD by mistake. It was recorded by a dying woman for her husband, but instead of reaching the man it was intended for, the disc lands in the lawyer’s hands. All she has are the clues contained in that recording, so she sets out to track him down.
That man is played by Golding, and you can see why Netflix is calling this an emotional romance rather than flogging it as another breezy rom-com. The film starts with grief and a message that has gone astray.
Oh, and the film is set in 2008, so the DVD won’t look so out of place. Watching Lohan back in her prime-era setting is surely something fans are looking forward to.
Who is in the cast of Return to You?
For now, Netflix has announced only Lohan and Golding, with Lohan also serving as a producer. So far, Netflix has kept the supporting cast under wraps, which leaves Lohan and Golding as the only names we can put on the call sheet.
When will Return to You release?
Nope, still nada. The film was announced on September 28th, so we are still early in the game. For now, the Lohan and Mark Waters reunion is enough to keep this Return to You on the radar.
