Only Finn Wolfhard knows about the 'Stranger Things' spinoff

Stranger Things has been a widespread phenomenon on Netflix with its meteoric success helping to resuscitate various sci-fi genre elements. After presenting a dark and bizarre cosmic narrative that abounds in interdimensional time travel, deadly monsters and brave kids on a bicycle, the creators have an idea for a potential spin-off which is known to none other than Finn Wolfhard.

Previously, the showrunners, Matt and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer brothers, teased a spin-off, talking about how they had an idea which has “a lot more gas left in the tank”.

Matt explained, “We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of spinoff, or any continuation of Stranger Things, for us, the bar was always ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?’”

Ross added, “The key for us is that it needs to feel like its own distinct thing, not that we’re just retreading what we’ve already done.”

While the duo have been striving to create a story which will be “its own distinct thing”, most of the cast, except Finn Wolfhard is in the dark about the spin-off. However, Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, only knows because he guessed correctly.

The Duffer brothers said, “We think everyone – including Netflix – will be surprised when they hear the concept because it’s very, very different. But somehow Finn Wolfhard – who is one crazy smart kid – correctly guessed what it was going to be about. But aside from Finn, no one else knows!”

Starring Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo and others, Stranger Things will be back on Netflix with its highly-anticipated fourth season which is the “darkest” season ever. Explosive, violent and mind-boggling, the fourth and penultimate season will perhaps set the premise for the show to come to an end.

The fourth season is arriving in two volumes, with the first volume arriving with seven episodes on May 27th, 2022, and the second volume premiering the final two episodes on July 1st, 2022.
