New ‘Stranger Things’ series to drop in three parts, teaser reveals
Netflix have released a new teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which revealed a November release date split into three parts.
In the teaser trailer, Winona Ryder’s character, Joyce Byers, addresses her son Will, played by Noah Schnapp. The franchise thematically centres on Will as a vehicle for evil.
Ryder’s character muses, “I think about that night all the time. That night came for you,” to Will. After this, the teaser fuses together moments across the entire season, showing the actors growing alongside the series.
The clip then reveals that the series will air the first section on November 26th. The second segment will air on Christmas Day, and the show’s finale will premiere on New Year’s Eve.
After announcing the set dates for the fifth and final season, the teaser includes several fragmented clips of new content. One such clip sees Schnapp screaming, “Run! Run!” with a horrified expression.
In keeping with the usual chronology, the final season will be set in the fall of 1987. This time, it will stay in Hawkins instead of travelling to California and Russia as seen in previous episodes.
The first three episodes are titled ‘The Crawl’, ‘The Vanishing Of…’ and ‘The Turnbow Trap’. The next few will be ‘Sorcerer’, ‘Shock Jock’, ‘Escape From Camazotz’, and ‘The Bridge’. The season finale, premiering on its own, will be called ‘The Rightside Up’, a clear reference to ‘The Upside Down’, the fictional hellscape that causes mayhem for the Stranger Things universe.
Filming for the fifth season wrapped up around Christmas time in 2024. Speaking to Netflix, Sadie Sink said the cast were “savouring every minute” of the experience, knowing the end is near.
Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in the series, also said that fans would be left “devastated” by the new season. However, he added: “As sad as it was, I’m so excited to see the world’s reaction to watching the finale because there’s not going to be a dry eye, it’s going to be sad. Not to be so negative, it is a really great season and people will love it.”
