'New Girl' is leaving Netflix in April

From next month, New Girl will no longer be available on Netflix. The US sitcom has been a Netflix mainstay for a decade, but from April 17th, all eleven seasons will be removed and transferred to Hulu and Peacock.

The move is part of a new deal between Disney+ and NBCUniversal which gives both platforms shared access to the series’ streaming rights. That means that all 146 episodes will no longer will available with your Netflix subscription.

Starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone, the first series of New Girl aired on Fox back in 2011. The show began streaming on Netflix in the summer of 2013 and concluded after seven seasons in 2018.

The show centres on the misadventures of a primary school teacher, Jessica Day ( Deschanel), and her three Los Angeles roommates, Nick, Schmidt and Winston, their former roommate Coach – played by Damon Wayans Jr – and Jess’s best friend Cece.

The show became an instant hit and was nominated for five Primetime Emmy awards. During its ten-year run, it featured a range of guest appearances by the likes of Prince, Taylor Swift, Rob Reiner, Justin Long, Linda Cardellini, Jamie Lee Curtis and Megan Fox.
