Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ wraps filming season 5 in Atlanta

Ahead of the fourth season premiering on Netflix, the popular Karate series Cobra Kai had been renewed for the fifth season on August 27th, 2021, and they have recently wrapped filming in Atlanta, Georgia.

Written and produced by the ‘Big 3’, namely Josh Herald, Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz, this Karate Kid sequel takes place nearly three decades after the end of the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1984 that spurned the budding enmity between Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence.

Starring Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, Oona O’Brien and Dallas Dupree, the series has garnered quite the attention for its high-strung action and quality content.

According to reports, the show commenced filming the fifth season on September 20th and was scheduled to end on December 10th.

However, due to certain delays, the filming finished quite recently, as confirmed by one of the Big 3 creators of the show, Jon Hurwitz, in his latest tweet.

Although the story takes place in Los Angeles, the season has been filmed in Atlanta.

Zabka had also recently spoken to ScreenRant about how season five is his favourite season yet, adding that he was “wrapped up in what’s going on right now that’s so far down the road from what I’m talking about”.

This has upped the anticipation of fans for the fifth season that will most likely make an appearance in 2022.
