Netflix sweeps Emmy nominations with star-studded roster

The streaming juggernaut has racked up an impressive number of Emmy nominations for 2023. With an abundance of acclaimed shows and talented stars, Netflix is one of the heavyweight contenders at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, along with Apple TV+ and HBO.

Beef, the limited series that had viewers on the edge of their seats, sliced through the competition and scored a whopping 13 nominations.

The Gen Z star Jenna Ortega made history as the youngest Latina actor to be nominated for an acting Emmy. Wednesday snagged a fantastic total of 12 nods, including an outstanding comedy series nomination. The iconic Tim Burton himself received his first-ever ‘Best Director’ Emmy nomination for his work on Wednesday

The Crown, the series chronicling the fictionalised life of the British monarchy, secured a regal count of six nominations. Meanwhile, the chilling anthology series DAHMERMonster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story got 13 nominations, with talented stars Evan Peters and Niecy Nash-Betts earning well-deserved nods. Keri Russell also made her mark, sprinting away with a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama for her performance in The Diplomat.

The hilarious and charismatic Nicole Byer has become the most-nominated Black woman in the Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program Category. 

With an array of nominations spanning various genres, Netflix has once again proven why it’s the ultimate binge-watching destination. From Christina Applegate’s remarkable work in Dead to Me getting another nod to the exceptional performances in Beef by Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, Netflix’s talent pool is overflowing with brilliance.

While Succession is most likely to sweep in the drama categories, the other awards have stiff competition.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards is scheduled for September 18th, 2023, and will be a dazzling celebration of television excellence.
