Netflix reveal 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story' teaser

Netflix has unveiled an exclusive teaser trailer for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a prequel to the smash-hit series that will present Charlotte and King George’s romance. It’s reported that the spin-off series will chart Charlotte’s rise to power and her crucial marriage to the king.

The prequel series is set for a May 4th debut and will star India Amarteifio and Golda Rosheuvel as the titular character, the former playing the young version and the latter the older, and Corey Mylchreest will play King George III. Adjoa Amarteifio will reprise her role as the older Lady Danbury, with Arsema Thomas playing the younger version. Ruth Gemmell, High Sachs, Michelle Fairley and Richard Cunningham also appear.

Following the original show’s debut in 2021, with a second season following in 2022, star Gemmell was asked by Cosmopolitan about the immense success Bridgerton experiences on social media platforms such as TikTok and Twitter, just as users cosplaying as characters with costumes and audio clips from the show or posting about how much they adore particular romantic dialogue.

“I don’t do any social media, so I’m always last at the party on that kind of stuff,” the actor replied. “I suppose it is surprising in terms of things like people suddenly getting very excited about corsets, which I can tell you now, they’re really not much fun to work with if you’re in them all day, every day. That’s quite hard work.”

Tom Verica serves as director for the upcoming spin-off series, with Shona Rhimes writing the scripts. The show will consist of six episodes.

The trailer invites viewers to “fall in love with the story that started it all”. It offers clips showing how the young queen met and fell in love with the king, who is told by his mother that “your marriage is the business of this country! This cannot go wrong!” as George and Charlotte dance together at a ball.
